When the bonsai tree, a miniature tree in a tray, was first introduced into Japan there was only one type of tree used. Obviously, this one tree .....
The Basics of the Artificial Bonsai

The art of bonsai sculpting is very old throughout Japan. For those who do not have the time to have a real, live bonsai in their busy lives, sometimes an artificial bonsai may fill that void. These fake plants have some advantages over real bonsai -- they never need to be watered, trimmed, fed and do not need sunlight among other things, nor do you need to talk to them!

Artificial bonsai can mimic just about any variety of plant you can think of, whether you are looking for one with fruit, flowers, or just pretty green leaves, so you should be able to find one you like. You will also need to decide how much you are willing to spend on an artificial plant since you may end up spending as much as you would for a real bonsai.

Artificial bonsai trees can be many shapes and sizes, so unless you know exactly what you want, it can be a hard decision to make. As with any artificial plant, the fake bonsai is very easy to care for. Unlike a real plant, you never have to worry about shaping the leaves, fertilizing the plant, or repotting the roots! Also, with an artificial bonsai you will not ever have pests or diseases to deal with.

Two downsides to any artificial plant, whether a bonsai or a palm tree, counterbalance all those positives. Since it is an artificial plant, you will have to spend a certain amount of money to find an artificial bonsai that looks fairly realistic. There are plenty of cheap ones available that resemble those horrible fake flowers you find on the tables in cheap restaurants.

Also, you will have to keep your artificial bonsai clean if you want it to look realistic. You can dust the leaves just as you dust your furniture, but it can be trickier since there are separate leaves and many grooves to clean on your artificial bonsai. An easy way to clean your artificial bonsai may be to use canned air, such as the kind used to clean out computer keyboards.

Artificial bonsai have many good qualities, but as with any artificial plant, however, you will definitely get what you pay for. Take your time looking at the various types and you should be able to find one that looks fairly realistic and suits your needs.
